Perinatal dietetics and nutrition: Personalized Nutrition for Well-Being and Body Balance

Our nutrition and dietetics service specializes in the period that begins with the search for pregnancy and continues through gestation and postpartum. It also covers nutrition during the first two years of the baby’s life, including support for breastfeeding, guidance for families using breast milk substitutes, and the introduction of complementary feeding.

Did you know that nutrition during the first 1,000 days of life plays the most important role in preventing diseases throughout life?

Nutrition before and during pregnancy can help prevent malformations, fetal DNA damage, premature births, and other pregnancy complications such as gestational diabetes or hypertensive disorders of pregnancy. On the other hand, through the baby’s diet from birth to two years of age, we can help prevent infectious diseases, allergies, feeding difficulties, and even the development of chronic diseases such as obesity or diabetes in adulthood.

The entire perinatal period offers a unique opportunity to support brain development through nutrition adapted to each stage of life, and has been shown to influence children’s IQ in both the short and long term.

The pregestational and pregnancy stages require specific nutritional adjustments, as well as supplementation of certain nutrients. Likewise, the introduction of complementary feeding requires following specific guidelines to avoid foods that may be dangerous for babies, while promoting maximum dietary diversity—at a time when babies are especially receptive to new flavors.

In our nutrition and dietetics service, we evaluate your social and personal context, take your preferences into account, and consider the practical realities of everyday life. We work with you so you can take control of your own journey.
