Ann-Sophie Borchardt

Ann-SophieI was born in 1984 in Baden-Baden, which is a small but charming city in the south of Germany. After graduation from high-school I didn't really know what I wanted to do in life and started to study Spanish and theology at the Albert-Ludwigs-University in Freiburg. Quite soon I realized that this wasn't the right thing for me to do. I was attracted by working in a hospital, started first training as a pediatric nurse until eight months later I was finally accepted into the school of midwifery of Karlsruhe. The short insight in pediatrics was a very enriching experience.

In 2008 I became a fully certified midwife. During my training as midwife I learned to understand that pregnancy and labor are physiological processes. I then worked in Germany as well as in Switzerland as midwife attending many labors. Before I moved to Madrid in 2010, I received a Yoga teacher training at Yoga Vidya.

What brought me to Madrid was love – my husband is Spanish. We have four little children who were all born here. The experience of having to give birth in a place which then still wasn't familiar to me, increased my motivation to offer a holistic attendance for pregnant women in a personal setting.

Since I moved to Madrid I have provided pre- and post-natal care, birth preparation classes as well as prenatal yoga classes and postnatal exercise classes. Since the foundation of the International Women's Health Center Madrid I am again actively working in the delivery room.
